The Brocade SilkWorm 3850 is a 16-port auto-sensing Fibre Channel switch, combining 1 and 2 Gbit/sec Fibre Channel throughput with security, availability, performance, and SAN management features, ideal for small SAN environments.
Designed for use in department or workgroup enterprise environments, the SilkWorm 3850 provides the ability to scale from entry 2-switch fabrics to full-fabric enterprise capabilities, offering a seamless upgrade path and cost-effective migration, along with backward and forward compatibility with SilkWorm entry, midrange, and director-class offerings.

High Availability throughout the Fabric:
  • 16 universal ports
  • 64 Gbit/sec end-to-end aggregate bandwidth
  • 2.125 Gbit/sec line speed, full duplex
  • 2-switch fabric or 4-switch fabric scales up to a full-fabric architecture with 239 switches maximum
  • Fabric switches support unicast, multicast (256 groups), and broadcast
It is a single FRU with options for entry to full fabric operation, and is fully backward and forward compatibile with other Brocade SilkWorm switches–providing a seamless migration path to 2 Gbit/sec connectivity and intelligent fabric services.
